THOMSON, Bryce H. – Of Flint, age 92, died Friday, August 7, 2015 at The Village Rehabilitation & Care Community in Armada.
Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, August 12, 2015 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Pastor Jeremy Peters officiating.
Burial in Sunset Hills Cemetery.
Those desiring may make contributions to Hospice of Michigan.
Visitation 9 a.m. Wednesday until the time of the service at the funeral home.
Bryce was born in Bellevue, Michigan on November 9, 1922, the son of Seth and Marguerite (Durnham) Thomson.
He graduated from Flint Central High School in 1941.
Mr. Thomson worked at AC Spark Plug Division from 1941-1942, enlisted in the U.S. Air Force on October, 1942 and was trained as a Single Engine Fighter Pilot and was commissioned a 1st Lieutenant on March 12, 1944.
He married Audrey J. Maltby on March 16, 1944 and returned to active duty and flew 52 missions over Germany with the 369th Fighter Squadron.
Mr. Thomson was discharged from service in December, 1945.
He attended U of M for a short time, worked for the U.S. Post Office for some time, and was employed by the City of Flint 1951 thru 1976.
Mr. Thomson retired from The City of Flint to pursue other interests.
Surviving are wife, Audrey J.;
three children, Larry and wife Nancy Thomson,
Janine and husband Dennis Asmus,
Rodney and wife Kimberly Thomson;
13 grandchildren, Jody Kendrick, Jason Asmus, Kristopher Asmus, Madeline Bryant, Paul Thomson, Byron Thomson, Joshua Thomson, Colin Thomson, Nina Thomson, Evan Thomson, Benjamin Thomson, Ethan Thomson and Andrew Thomson;
also surviving are 7 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sister.
