RAGNONE, Peter D. – Of Flushing, age 96, died Friday, July 26, 2019 at his residence.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated 11am Wednesday, July 31, 2019 at St. John Vianney Catholic Church, 2415 Bagley Street, Flint,
Father Thomas Firestone officiating.
Visitation 11am-3pm and 5-8pm Tuesday at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Flint. A Knights of Columbus service will be held at 6:30pm Tuesday evening conducted by the Flint and Flushing Lodge 3rd and 4th Degree with a Rosary immediately following at 7pm Tuesday evening at the funeral home. Visitation 10am Wednesday at church until the time of the Mass.
Entombment at Mt. Caramel Cemetery in Chicago, Illinois.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St John Vianney School and St. Luke’s North End Women’s Life Center.
Peter was born in Raiano, Italy on April 13, 1923, the son of the late Marziano and Domenica (Zitella) Ragnone.
He was a resident of Flint since 1934 coming from Italy. Peter served in the United States Army during World War II. He married Mary DelFiacco on January 17, 1942 in Chicago. Peter was a member of St. Agnes/St. John Vianney Catholic Church. He was also a long-time member of the Knight of Columbus. Peter was employed by Chevrolet Manufacturing for 35 years, retiring in 1980 and was a member of UAW Local #659. Peter always said be happy, smile laugh, and drink a glass of “red wine” every day.
Surviving sons, Marty and wife JoAnn, Joe, and Robert;
many grandchildren and great-grandchildren;
brother, Fulvio and wife Aurelia;
and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary, daughter-in-law, Cheryl Ragnone, grandsons Tony and Robby and brother, Dante Ragnone.
