MALIN (THOMPSON), Loretta Jo – Of Clio, left this world peacefully, surrounded by her family Saturday, February 3, 2018 at University Hospital in Ann Arbor.

“When you get the chance to sit it out or dance….I hope you dance”, and Loretta did.

Loretta was born in Rankin, Michigan to John Joseph and Virginia (Corlew) Thompson.

Loretta was a graduate of Clio High School and was proud to be the drum majorette in the Clio Band. She played French horn in the Flint Concert Band.

Loretta was married in 1958 for 46 years to Thomas E. Malin.

Loretta received her nursing degree in 1964, a 40 year career caring for others.

She had much pride in being a Disaster Nurse with the American Red Cross.

Loretta found joy working in her award winning flower gardens, ballroom dancing and helping out at her church, Pine Run Church of Christ.

Loretta loved spending happy times with her children. Her life’s rewards were- her grandchildren-her “darlins”, with many special summers spent on Lake Michigan.

Surviving Loretta are her daughters, Terri Ann Malin, Kathryn Malin-Iwanusa;

son-in-law, Don Echoles Conway;

grandchildren, Erin Elizabeth Iwanusa, Gretchen Leigh Whitting, Chelsea Ann and Daniel Schlicker, Matthew Thomas Iwanusa and Reelika Malin;

great-grandchildren, Holly Mae and James Schlicker and Cameron Joel Whitting;

sisters and brothers-in-law, Karen and Robert Nickerson, Ginger Sudia;
brother, John A. and wife Jodee Thompson;

special relationships with nieces, Bethany Ann Young, Laura and her wife Katie Young; cousins, Diane Macksood and Marilyn Pointer;

dear friends, Norma “Honey” King and Charlene Anderson and her many special dance and church community friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas E. Malin; her son, Joel Thomas Malin and her dear granddaughter, Ashley Anne Malin.

Memorial service will be held at 6 p.m. Saturday, February 10, 2018 at “Steve Reynolds Studio 110”, 110 Vienna Road, Clio, Mich.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Loretta Malin Memorial Fund.
