NELSON, Sandra L. (Tolbert) - Of Flint Township, age 73, passed away unexpectedly Tuesday, January 12, 2016 at her residence.
Funeral service will be held 1:30pm Saturday, January 16, 2016 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Flint.
Per Sandra’s wishes, cremation will take place following the service.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be directed to the Salvation Army or Paralyzed Veterans of America.
Visitation 11am Saturday until the time of the service at the funeral home.
Sandra was born in Flint on December 29, 1942, the daughter of the late Arthur and Dorothy Tolbert. Sandra attended Northern High School. She enjoyed reading and traveling. Sandra retired as the Director of Housekeeping at a private Alzheimer’s Care Facility in Long Beach, CA and then moved back to Michigan in 2005 to be near her family.
Surviving are sister, Alice Richards of Durand;
2 brothers, Robert A. (Norma) Tolbert of Burton and Jerry Tolbert of Lennon;
nieces and nephew, Dorothy Wicks (John Harvey) of Davison, Lisa (Mickey) Lucky of Swartz Creek, Ronald Richards of Linden along with many other nieces and nephews;
and long-time friend, Billie James of CA.
She was preceded in death by her husband Milton, 2 sisters and 2 brothers.
