WARDA, Edward J. – Of Grand Blanc, age 87, died at his home with his children at his side on Thursday, June 7, 2018.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Friday, June 15, 2018 at Holy Family Catholic Church, 11804 South Saginaw Street, Grand Blanc, Father Dan Westermann officiating.
Burial in New Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, if desired, remembrances in Ed’s name may be made to the charity of your choice.
Visitation 3-8p.m. Thursday at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road. A Scripture Service will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Edward was born in Chicago, Illinois on December 9, 1930.
On November 13, 1954 he married Charlotte Merkler in Fort Wayne.
He served in the U.S. Army.
Ed worked in Skilled Trades at Buick for 38 years and served as the chairman of the Factory Management Council.
Along with his late brother and late sister, Ed has provided college scholarships for Assyrian youth of Genesee County for 49 years.
After retirement, Ed and Charlotte split their time between Grand Blanc and Bradenton. Following Charlotte’s death, Ed continued wintering in Bradenton where he served as president of his condo association.
In Florida, Ed met Kathryn Keefe, and they spent many years traveling and cruising together until her passing.
He was a member of Holy Family Church and the Assyrian-American Club of Flint.
Surviving are son Joseph (Julie), and daughter Angela Hall (Dolf); granddaughters Sydney and Eden Warda, and Jackie Hall; grandsons Eric (Chauni) Hall and Edward Warda; Sister-in-law Nelly Warda, brother-in-law Harold (Claudia)Merkler, and sisters-in law Elizabeth and Marlene Merkler; many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Preceded in death by wife Charlotte, infant daughter Gayel Ellen, sister Anna Warda Vance, brother Albert (Emil) Warda.
