Robert "Bob" Eugene Beckwith, age 98 of Lansing, formerly of Corunna, passed away Saturday, December 22, 2018 at the Bickford of West Lansing. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Thursday, December 27, 2018 at the Trinity United Methodist Church, 1629 Brady St. Chesaning, Michigan 48616. Rev. Timothy Woycik will officiate with burial to follow in Pine Tree Cemetery in Corunna at 3:00 pm. Family will receive friends at Watkins Brothers Funeral Homes, Corunna Chapel Wednesday from 3-7pm.
Bob was born April 2, 1920 to the late Bidger and Grace Beckwith in Corunna and would spend most of his life there. He was a successful dairy farmer in Shiawassee County for many years. Bob served faithfully in the United States Coast Guard during World War II. He was an active member of Corunna United Methodist Church, New Lothrop United Methodist Church, and Trinity United Methodist Church in Chesaning. After his marriage to Marjorie, he became a member of South Baptist Church in Lansing.
Bob was involved in several community service organizations including a chapter of the Shiawassee County Farm Bureau. For nearly 20 years he volunteered as a tax consultant with the Owosso Senior Citizens. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather.
Mr. Beckwith is survived by his wife, Marjorie; five children: Norman and wife Chris; Sarah Pease; Roy and wife Terri; Kathy jones; Roberta Smith and husband John; stepsons George and wife Tonda Potter; Tom and wife Tammy Potter; 9 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren, step-grandchildren and step great grandchildren. Also surviving are one sister, Alzina Seeley; one brother Harold and his wife, Lilah; several nieces and nephews and their families.
Robert was preceded in death by his beloved wives, Ella (Holstead) and Margaret (Phipps), one sister, Armina, his parents, Bidger and Grace Beckwith.
