Crary, Douglas “Jack” of Flushing, age 91, died Wednesday, August 26, 2015, at Genesys Health Park. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Monday, August 31, 2015, at Flushing United Methodist Church. Rev. Jeanne Wisenbaugh will officiate. Burial will follow at 2 p.m. at Flint Memorial Park. Visitation will be 3-7 p.m. Sunday at Rossell Funeral Home. Masonic services under the auspices of Lodge #223 F&AM will be 6 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Flushing V.F.W. Post #5666, Flushing United Methodist Church, or the Elf Khurafeh Temple.
Jack was born in Toledo, Ohio on October 22, 1923, the son of Orville and Bessie (VanCamp) Crary. He married Cecelia Forbes in Flushing on September 28, 1945. She preceded him in death on July 6, 2014. Jack was a graduate of Flushing High School, Class of 1942. He proudly served in the U.S. Army from 1943-1946, during World War II. Jack retired from General Motors, Service Parts Operations after 30 years of service. He was a life member of Flushing V.F.W. Post #5666 where he served as Commander from 1979-1980 and Captain of the Honor Guard from 1982-1983. Jack was also a member of Flushing Masonic Lodge #223 F&AM, Bay City Scottish Rite and the Oasis Shrine Club, Hospital Driver's Unit, Shriner's Elf Khurafeh Temple, and the Hillbilly Clan. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending time with his family and friends.
Jack is survived by his children, Sharon, Jim and wife Judy, and Robin; grandchildren, Angie and husband Lonnie, Lance, Tracy and husband Bryan, Greg and wife Terri, Benjamin, Erin and husband Brent; many great-grandchildren; brother, Dal; and several nieces and nephews.
