SUTHERLAND, Michael – of Columbiaville, age 29, passed away on Wednesday, July 1, 2020. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated 11:00 AM Monday, July 6, 2020 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, G-5199 Richfield Road, Flint, Fr. Roy Horning celebrant. Cremation will follow. Adhering to social distancing guidelines, visitation will take place at Holy Rosary Catholic Church 4:00-6:30 PM Sunday, July 5, 2020 and one hour prior to service on Monday. A Rosary will be prayed on Sunday evening at 6:30 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be considered in Michael’s memory to Logan’s Heroes http://www.logans-heroes.org/ an organization honoring of his brother, Logan.
Michael Benjamin Wayne Sutherland was born in Norfolk VA on March 24, 1991 son of Leo and Debra (Howard) Sutherland. He attended and graduated from Kearsley Schools in 2009. After graduation, he attended Baker College focusing his studies in the electrical program. Michael worked for Coca-Cola Bottling Company. He very much enjoyed spending time outdoors. He especially liked bonfires, golfing, canoeing, cookouts, as well as fishing and hunting with his father and grandfather. Michael enjoyed helping Papa. He loved vacationing and spending time with his family and friends. One of his favorite trips was to Hawaii with his mother, step-father, Mike and his brother, Logan. He was so proud that he shared a birthday with his baby sister, “Sis”. Michael had a big heart and he will be deeply missed by his family and all that knew him.
Michael is survived by his mother, Debra (Mike) LeClaire; father, Leo Sutherland and Cindy; sister, Madison; brother, Logan; grandparents, Patsy and Roger Howard, Marilyn LeClaire, Janet and George Shorkey; many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Leo Sutherland; aunt, Cindy Haveland; grandmother, Peg Sutherland; grandfather, Mike E. LeClaire; family friend, Jordan Morningstar.
