PARKER, Barbara Ann Summers - Of Swartz Creek, age 74, died Thursday, September 22, 2016 at her residence.
Funeral service will be held 2pm Tuesday, September 27, 2016 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Flint,
Pastor Keith Bolinger officiating.
Burial in Great Lakes National Cemetery.
Visitation 4-8pm Monday and 12pm Tuesday until the time of the service at the funeral home.
It was a beautiful day in Clarksville Tennessee on November 6, 1941 when baby girl Barbara Ann Summers Parker came into this world to proud parents of the late Thelma James Lehman and William Thomas Summers. Barbara lived in Tennessee until around the age of 12 when she and her parents moved to Flint Michigan.
Soon around the age of 14, Barbara met the love of her life David Howard Parker at Rollhaven in Flint and at the age of 16 they were married on June 2, 1958.
Two years later they had their very first bundle of joy, Deidra Lynn. Next came David Scott, followed by Shawn Summers and last but not least Shane Tabatha.
Barbara loved children and soon became a bus driver for Carman Ainsworth school district and chose to drive the routes for special needs children. She built a special relationship with each and every child.
Barbara was the proud mother of both her sons who raced motorcycles. She sewed their own leathers and could be heard above everyone else while they were racing. She was known as the “Fox!”
She loved a good bargain, Downtown Detroit Days, flea markets and clearance racks! She loved singing, dancing and a good bonfire! She never never met a stranger and was a mother to all.
She leaves behind her love David Howard Parker of 59 years. Brother- in-law Bob (Dolly) Parker. Daughter Deidra (Bill) Hensley, Sons Scott(Wanda) Parker, Shawn (Marie) Parker, and Daughter Shane (Steve) Dawes. Barbara had 14 beautiful grandchildren and 5 precious great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her in-laws R.G. And Ruth Parker and sister –in-law Joyce Parker.
The family would like to express their sincere thanks to all who cared for Barbara during the last few years of her life.
