LORENTZEN, Richard L. - of Clio, age 67, died Wednesday, October 4, 2017, after a courageous battle with CJD. Honoring his wishes, cremation has taken place. A Memorial service will be held 11AM Monday, October 9, 2017 at the O’Guinn Family Funeral Home in Clio. Chaplain Todd Regester officiating. The family will receive visitors at the funeral home on Sunday from 4PM until 8PM and on Monday from 10AM until the time of service at 11AM. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Creutzfeldt-Jakob Disease (CJD) Foundation.

Richard was born December 29, 1949 in Cass City, Michigan to the late Donald R. and Helen G. (Steinmann) Lorentzen. He married Nancy Johnson on July 18, 1980. Mr. Lorentzen was a teacher with Beecher Community Schools for many years, and retired from LakeVille Community School in 2005. Richard was very involved in school athletics. He was the soccer coach with Mt. Morris Schools, and a track official for cross country and track and field. Richard was a great sportsman and loved hunting and fishing. He enjoyed golfing and traveling. Richard was an avid reader and history enthusiast.

Surviving are: Wife, Nancy Lorentzen; Sons: Daniel (Jennifer) Lorentzen, and Thomas Lorentzen; Granddaughter, Evelynn Lorentzen; Sister, Anne Lorentzen; Brother, Donald Lorentzen; Loving furry companions: Toby and Hans. Many other loving family members and dear friends. Richard was also preceded in death by his brother, Charles Lorentzen.
