PARO, Leo G. – of Burton, age 86, passed away July 13, 2014 at Melody Gardens Care Home. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated 11 AM Friday, July 18, 2014 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 404 N. Dayton St., Davison; Rev. Fr. Carl Simon celebrant. Burial, with Military Honors will be in Flint Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 4-8 PM Thursday at Allen Funeral Home, 9136 Davison Rd., Davison. On Friday, visitation will be at the church from 10 AM until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Home and Hospice Advantage, 1309 S. Linden Rd., Flint, MI 48532.
Leo was born in Flint, MI on April 9, 1928 son of the late Oliver and Angeline (Jakowski) Paro. He married Dolores Kowalczyk on August 12, 1950 and she preceded him in death January 22, 2008. Leo graduated from Kearsley High School in 1946. He proudly served his country in the Marines from June 1946 to May 1947. Leo then served the National Guard from June 1948-June 1954. He also attended Flint Junior College. Leo worked at Sears and Roebuck for 15 years. Together Leo and Dolores owned Leo’s Photography and Graphic Arts. Leo loved staying active with new technology, golfing, fishing, photography and flying single engine airplanes. He was an avid U of M fan. Leo cherished his friendship with Larry and Marie Deitering and Jim Ames. “The Eagle Has Landed.”
Leo is survived by his children, Gary Paro, Barbara (Todd) Bowden, Sharon (Barry) Faulkner, Bonnie Paro, Judy (Rod) Darling, Jody (Jim) McLellan; grandchildren, Cody Wyatt, Brooke, Bethany, Zachary, Joshua, Sean, Drew and Derek; great-grandchildren, Kayla, Dominic, Gabriel, Masone; brother, Larry (Doris) Paro. The family would like to say a special thank you to Melody Gardens Care Home for the kind and loving care given to dad.
