BERRY, Bert J. - Age 83, of Lennon, died February 9, 2014 at Genesys Health Park.

Funeral services will be held 1 PM Thursday, February 13 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Road, Swartz Creek. Visitation will be held Wednesday 12-2 PM and 4-8 PM, and Thursday 12 PM until the time of the service at 1 PM. At a later date there will be a celebration of life ceremony at Great Lakes National Cemetery, Holly, where Berts cremated remains will be entombed.

Bert was born December 21, 1930 in Flint the son of Hubert T. Berry and Sarah Ann (Tresidder) Berry. Bert was a 1949 graduate of Flint Technical High School and then GMI. He was a lifelong resident of Flint and Lennon. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army in the Signal Corps during Korea. Bert married Joyce L. Entrekin on May 4, 1951 in Flint.

He retired from GM as a toolmaker in 1993 with 42 years of service. Bert was a Christian. He was an airplane pilot, owning and flying his own Cessna 150. Bert was a loving husband and father. He was a skilled craftsman and mechanic. He enjoyed camping, sailing, and boating, with his family and friends.

Surviving are: wife of 62 years, Joyce; three children; Dennis L. ( Tracey) Berry of Franklin TN, David M. Berry of Tucson AZ, Nancy L. (Mark) Hall of Burton ; four grandchildren, Christine (John), Ricky, Alyssa (Lance), Jeff; two sisters, Joy (Harold) Teachenor of Grand Blanc, Kathy Kolonowski of Florida; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and step-father, Ray Knowles.
