AYRE, Jr., Sheldon “Butch” J. – of Burton, age 61, passed away June 23, 2016 at his residence. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated 10:30 AM Monday, June 27, 2016 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, G-5199 Richfield Rd., Flint; Rev. Fr. Roy Horning celebrant. Entombment with Military Honors will be in New Calvary Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be 2-4 & 6-8 PM Sunday at Allen Funeral Home, 9136 Davison Rd., Davison. A Memorial Service under the auspices of the Knights of Columbus 3rd and 4th Degree will be held at 6:30 PM Sunday followed by a Rosary being prayed at 7 PM. There will be one hour of visitation prior to the Mass on Monday at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Sheldon Ayre Family.
Butch was born in Camp Kilmer, NJ on July 18, 1954, son of the late Sheldon and Mary (LaBombard) Ayre, Sr. He proudly served his country with the U.S. Navy on the U.S.S. Saratoga. Butch married the love of his life, Alanna Kowalec on August 30, 1974 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church. He was a past member of the Flint Area Apple Computer Club. Butch was a 4th degree member of the Knights of Columbus and enjoyed singing with the Flint Area Singing Knights. He loved his 68 Buick Skylark and was very active with Back to the Bricks. Butch was a very proud father and grandfather. He worked as an I.T. Manager for many years.
Butch is survived by his wife of 41 years, Alanna; children, Anne-Marie Ayre and Adrienne (Chad) Brown; granddaughter, Kaylee; brothers, Robert (Jill) Ayre, Michael (Terri) Ayre, Daniel (Sandy) Ayre and Kevin (Melissa) Ayre; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Monica (Dan) Kenney; numerous nieces and nephews.
