SPARKS, Helen Argue – of Flint, age 90, passed away November 1, 2011 at Grand Blanc Rehab and Nursing Center. A Funeral Service will be held 1 PM Friday, November 4, 2011 at Allen Funeral Home, 9136 Davison Rd., Davison; Rev. Annie R. Duncan officiating. Burial will be in Crestwood Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive visitors from 11-1 & 3-8 PM Thursday and from 10 AM until time of the service on Friday. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimer Association or Outreach East of Davison.
Helen was born in Teeswater, Ontario, Canada on May 30, 1921, daughter of the late James and Myrtle (McTavish) Wightman. Helen married Ford D. Argue on December 21, 1940. He preceded her in death in 1974. She married Harold J. Sparks in 1981 and preceded her in death in 1998. Helen moved to Michigan from Canada on January 18, 1927 and became a U.S. citizen on December 6, 1950. Her whole life was dedicated to her family, whom she loved dearly. For many years, she enjoyed bowling at Nightingale Lanes, playing her organ and playing cards with friends.
Helen is survived by her children, Sandra (LeRoy) LaJeunesse, John (Rachel) Argue, Kenneth (Elaine) Argue, Sharrie (John) Kimsel and Dan (Carolyn) Argue; step-son, Jack Sparks of Seattle, WA; 14 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; 8 great-great-grandchildren; sister, Norma (Chester) Morningstar; brother, Donald (Carol) Wightman; many nieces and nephews; best friend, Billie Zucker. She was preceded in death by brother, Al (Gloria) Wightman; granddaughter, Lisa Marie Argue; cousin and like her sister, Margaret Campbell.
