ALLEN, Geraldine Ella (Ohse) - Of Grand Blanc, age 93, went home to be with the Lord Jesus on Sunday, February 26, 2017.
Funeral service will be held 1pm Saturday, March 4, 2017 at Faith Lutheran Church, 12534 South Holly Road, Grand Blanc,
Pastor Todd A. Biermann officiating.
Burial in Riverside Cemetery, Custer, Michigan.
Those desiring may make contributions to Faith Lutheran Church or the American Heart Association.
Visitation 2-7pm Friday at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Flint. Mrs. Allen will be at the church from 12 Noon Saturday until the time of the service.
Geraldine was born in Ludington, Michigan on March 9, 1923, the daughter of Vera (Shaffer) and Richard Ohse. She graduated from Custer High School, Class of 1941, attended GMI of Flint for accounting, was employed as the bookkeeper for Flint Sewing Center and Allen’s Cleaners. During World War II she worked at AC Spark Plug, wrapped bandages for Red Cross, and joined the Cadet Nurse Corp at Hurley School of Nursing. Geraldine was co-owner of Allen’s Cleaners in 1961 and operated the business until 2002. She was a member of Faith Lutheran Church, Grand Blanc, she served as Secretary for the Board of Evangelism, and part of the Evangelism Training Program, as well as teaching Sunday School, VBS, and Altar Guild and Journey to Bethlehem.
Surviving are children, James (Deborah) Plourde of Flint, Darlene(Bruce) Baker of Grand Blanc; step-son, Dennis Allen of Grand Blanc;
grandchildren, Michelle (Robert) Nies of Flint, Laura (Bradley) Allen-Besser of Grand Blanc, Natalie (Sean) Myers of Texas, Jason Plourde of Florida, Kyle Plourde of Flint, Brittany (Brandon) Brow of Davison, Christopher (Heather) Baker of Goodrich;
great-grandchildren, Tyler Rauh, Kelsey Hardin (Scott), Cody Rauh, Kotie Besser, Emma, Tate, and Blakely Myers, Aiden and Andrew Brow.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Willard Allen, son, Daryl Plourde, parents Richard and Vera Ohse.
