KNIGHT, Gaylord Harding -- Age 91, of Swartz Creek, died October 21, 2012. Funeral services will be 11 AM Saturday, October 27 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Rd., Swartz Creek, Pastor Hal Phillips officiating. Interment in Crestwood Memorial Cemetery. Visitation 2-4 and 6-8 PM Friday, with a Masonic service at 7 PM Friday under the auspices of Lodge # 458 F.& A.M. of Swartz Creek. Those desiring may make contributions to South Mundy United Methodist Church. Gaylord was born March 27, 1921 in Swartz Creek the son of Stuart and Geneva (Bloss) Knight. He had resided in Swartz Creek all of his life. He was a 1940 graduate of Swartz Creek High School, and was the first Swartz Creek High School student to be chosen as a representative for Wolverine Boys State. He married Mary Gwendolyn Bell on December 20, 1941 in Swartz Creek; she preceded him in death January 20, 2006. Gaylord was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. He retired from GM - Chevrolet in 1979 with 31 years of service. He was a present member of the South Mundy United Methodist Church and a past member of the Swartz Creek United Methodist Church. He was a life member of the Lodge # 458 F.& A.M. of Swartz Creek. Surviving are: son Richard M. Knight and wife Laura of Shingle Springs, CA; 2 granddaughters Abby Knight and Jenna Knight, both of Shingle Springs, CA ; brother, Marshall Knight of Flushing; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister Gevah Jackson; brother, Maxwell Knight and wife Gwen. Tributes may be shared on the obituaries page at www.sharpfuneralhomes.com. |
