BARBER, Leola I. – of Montrose, age 94, died Monday, September 28, 2015 at Angel Manor. Funeral services will be held at 11AM Friday, October 2, 2015 at the Montrose United Methodist Church. Rev. Susan Bennett Stiles officiating. Burial to follow in Montrose Township Cemetery. Friends may call at the O’Guinn Family Funeral Home in Montrose on Thursday from 2-8PM and at the church on Friday from 10AM until time of services at 11AM. Contributions may be made to Heart to Heart Hospice or Montrose United Methodist Church.
Leola was born July 9, 1921 in Mt. Morris to the late Eugene and Beulah (Johnston) Grosephend. She was a lifelong resident of Montrose. She married Donald E. Barber on February 7, 1942. He preceded her in death on March 18, 1985. Mrs. Barber retired from Ternstedt on Coldwater in 1976 with 15 years seniority. She was a member of the Montrose United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women and the UAW Local #326. She enjoyed crafting.
Surviving are: Children: Lee Ann Hanel of Flushing, Linda (Tom) Stevens of Sugar Island, John (Sandi) Barber of SC, Maryann (Ed) Nygard of Montrose, Donald Barber of Flushing; 16 grandchildren; 29 great grandchildren; 5 great great grandchildren; Sister, Betty Stevens of MD; many nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by a son-in-law, Dale Hanel; Grandchildren, Sue Handyside and Tom Polcik; sisters and brother: Lula Schack, Jean Nicholas and Bud Grosephend.
