EDWARDS, Thomas R. – of Flint, age 78, passed away at his residence on Saturday, June 15, 2019. A Mass of Christian Burial, with Military Honors, will be celebrated 11 AM Friday, June 21, 2019 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 404 N. Dayton St., Davison, MI 48423; Rev. Fr. Andrew A. Czajkowski celebrant. Burial will be in Great Lakes National Cemetery at a later date. Visitation will be 1–8 PM Thursday, June 20, 2019 at Allen Funeral Home, 9136 Davison Rd., Davison, MI 48423. A Rosary will be prayed at 6 PM Thursday, June 20, 2019 followed by a Memorial Service under the auspices of the Davison Knights of Columbus, 3rd Degree Council #4090 and 4th Degree Assembly # 0523. There will be one hour of visitation prior to the Mass on Friday. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church Organ Fund.
Thomas was born in Flint, MI on May 29, 1941, the oldest of seven boys, the son of the late Thomas and Catherine (Carver) Edwards. The family moved to East Detroit, and he attended school there. Tom entered the U.S. Marine Corp. in 1959 and served honorably until 1963. After being discharged, he worked in the steel mill and went to college to become a draftsman. He married Marysue St. Martin, and from this union had two daughters. After returning to Flint, Tom became a very successful car salesman for McGillivry Buick and Blain Buick. Later in Life, he went back to his engineering career at Excel Corp. in Fenton, and worked his way up to President and CEO. Tom finished his career at Fata Automation. On July 28, 1994, he married his loving wife, Marilyn (Steele) Crist, and she survives him. Tom was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church and was a 4th Degree Knight with the Knights of Columbus.
Thomas is survived by his wife, Marilyn; daughters, Anne-Marie (Dennis) Anderson, Suzanne (Jessie) Thompson; four loving step-children, Scott (Tammy) Crist, Rebecca Ritchie, Brenda Crist, Anne (Anthony) Pariseau; grandchildren, Randy Watkins, Joshua Ritchie, Rory and Austin Pariseau, Miya, Dennis and Mikayla Anderson, Phoenix Thompson; brothers, David (Kim) Edwards, Gary (Marian) Edwards; as well as several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Gerald, Terry, John and William.
