CARWILE, Thelma L. – of Clio, age 86, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, August 20, 2013 at Melody Brookwood assisted living in Burton. Funeral services will be held at 1 PM Thursday, August 22, 2013 at the O’Guinn Family Funeral Home in Clio. Pastor Ed Emmerling officiating. Burial will be in Flint Memorial Park. Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday from 11-8PM and on Thursday from 11AM until time of services at 1 PM. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
Thelma was born May 3, 1927 in Flint, Michigan to the late Marion and Cora (Hyde) Gean. She married Tommy Carwile, Sr. in 1951. He preceded her in death in 1993. She attended Martin District School of Butler County in Poplar Bluff, Missouri. Thelma retired from Fisher Body Turnstead in 1987 with over 30 years seniority and was a member of UAW Local # 326. She retired to Farwell, then moved back after 20 years. She enjoyed gardening, growing flowers and traveling.
Surviving are: children, Kay (Rick) Mitchell, Tommy Carwile, Jr., Mary (Ron) Ferrell and Timmy Carwile, all of Clio; 10 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; brother, Richard Gean; sisters, Joyce Kolger and Vicki McGuirk; several nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by: a son, Gary Woodruff; and sisters, Grace, Lorraine, Margaret, Jenette, June and Christine.
