BALLINGER, James H. – Born April 6, 1945 went home to be with the Lord on June 23, 2020.
Jim was born in Flint, MI to John and Rita Ballinger. He attended Holy Redeemer School, where he lettered in shot put, and was unanimously selected All State Football during his junior and senior year.
He went on to attended Tennessee Tech on a football scholarship until the time he went to work at AC.
During his time at AC he served as Committee Man for the Local UAW 651. It was at AC that Jim met and married Christine Larson on May 6, 1967. They had three sons together and spent time enjoying sports, camping and fishing over the course of 40 years, until the time of her death.
Jim was one of the original members of the Lake Nepessing Bass Club, where he forged lifelong friendships. He also was a fourth degree member of the Knights of Columbus.
In 2006 Jim married Judith (Suski) Fifarek and moved to Traverse City. They spent many hours involved in their church until moving to Birch Run to be closer to family.
Jim is survived his wife, Judith;
sons, John (Amy) and Kenny (AnnMarie), (Stephanie);
step-children, William Bowles and Stacie (Mitch) VanKampen;
grandchildren, Christian (Mauricia), Nick, Killian, Logan, Conner, Lillian, Alex (Brianna), Austin (Calli), Hannah, Will and Jordan;
great-grandchildren, Kaiden, London, Sebastian, Travis and Sam;
brother, Mike (Nancy);
many nieces, nephews and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife and son, Spencer.
Private Family Service to take place.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his name to St. Francis and Clare Catholic Church in Birch Run, MI.
