Richard D.P. Hall
Age 88, of Au Gres, MI and formerly of Goodrich, MI passed away on Monday, March 17, 2025 at My Michigan Medical Center in Tawas City, MI. He was born on December 22, 1936 in Flint, MI to the late Douglas and Edith Hall (Avery). Richard was raised in the Flint area and after college he worked several years in management for the trucking industry. He married the love of his life, Helen Smith on November 29, 1958 in Goodrich, MI. Together they raised their children and later moved to Au Gres in 1989. That is where he owned and operated the Northport Sporting Goods and Marina for the next seven years until he retired. His proudest role was being a loving family man. Richard is often described as a great storyteller, a funny man and maybe even one with a little bit of a feisty spirit. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, collecting “treasurers” but most especially spending time with his family. His moose hunting trips with his dad and dear friend Steve Panko were among his fondest memories. Later on in life he cherished his hunting and fishing trips to Alaska with his son Doug. Richard is survived by his wife of 66 years, Helen; three children, daughter Sandy (Rod) Loomis of Clare, MI, daughter Margaret (Jeff) Papadelis of Oxford, MI, son Doug (Sarah) Hall of Fenton, MI; 9 grandchildren, Stephen (Katie) Stiff, Hollie (Adam) Little, Nick (Katie) Loomis, Austin (Kennedy) Papadelis, Travis Papadelis, Victoria Papadelis, Savannah Papadelis, Stone Hall and Grayson Hall. He is also survived by six great grandchildren, Autumn, Keegan, Paxton, Caleb, Nathan, Braydee and his sister Merry (John) Scharf of Rochester, MI. In addition to his parents, Richard was preceded in death by his daughter Diana Ashby and brothers Ron and Doug Hall. The family will receive friends on Saturday, March 22, 2025 from 11:00 AM until the time of the celebration of life beginning at 12:00 PM at the St. John Lutheran Church in Au Gres, MI.
