MANN, Barbara Ann (Sanford) – age 75 of Grand Blanc, MI passed away Wednesday, February 10, 2016 at Genesee Care Center in Grand Blanc, MI. Visitation will be held on Friday, February 19, 2016 from 1PM-4PM & 5PM-8PM and an Order of Eastern Stars service at 7PM. Funeral Services will be held Saturday, February 20, 2016 at 12PM at Brown Funeral Home – 1480 E. Hill Rd. Grand Blanc, MI with one hour of visitation prior to the service. Interment will take place at Flint Memorial Park in Mt. Morris, MI. Barbara was born on July 25, 1940 in Flint, MI; the eldest daughter of George Franklin (1911-1985) and Sara Elizabeth (Sales) (1919-1991) Sanford. Her work career started at the age of 16 at Federal’s Dept. Store, then various jobs before and after her marriage, and concluded at Michigan Community Service from 1982-1994. She married Jim Howard Mann (1927-2015) on June 1, 1963 in Flint. Together they had three daughters. Barbara and Jim began their life together in St. Louis, MO, then Flint and Davison, MI; as well as a short time in Bernie, MO after Jim’s retirement in 1992. They moved back to Michigan where they felt they belonged, to live out their days in Grand Blanc to be with and around their family and friends. Barbara was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, in which she loved to cook and have missionaries in her home for dinners. Barbara was still in contact with classmates (Dollie, Darlene, and Shirley). Their friendships spanned 58 years (Flint Northern Class of ’58). Barbara leaves behind her three children; Lisa Ann Vliet of Grand Blanc, MI, Stacey Ann (Keith) Aslin of Barnhart, MO, and Cynthia Mann of Grand Blanc, MI; 6 grandchildren, Brianna, MaKayla, and Nathan Vliet, David and Nicholas Aslin, and Keirstin Mann; one nephew, Eliot Rendleman; as well as many relations on her husband’s side in Missouri and California. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Jim Howard Mann; and sister, Alice Mae Rendleman (1945-1989). Those desiring may make contributions to the Humane Society.
