Richard D. Smith, age 66, of Holly, died Mon. Nov. 2, 2015. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Thurs. Nov. 5, 2015 at the Dryer Funeral Home, Holly, with Pastor Jim Wiegand officiating. Military honors and burial will be at Great Lakes National Cemetery, Holly. Visitation will be from 2-5 and 7-9 PM Wed. Mr. Smith was born in Union County, KY on Mar. 17, 1949 the son of John and Ruth (Ranger) Smith. He was a Vietnam Veteran, serving in the US Air Force. He was retired from GM and attended the Freedom Center of Fenton. He loved the water; sailing and fishing, especially with his buddy, his grandson Cade. He also enjoyed motorcycling and family camping. He is survived by his wife Paula; daughter Vanessa Smith of Milford; grandson Cade Smith; mother Ruth Smith of Tawas; and brother Robert (Mary Jane) Smith of Montrose. He was preceded in death by his father John Smith and brothers and sisters, Jack, Denise, Kathy, and Kent.
