BODNAR, David J. Sr. – of Clio, age 73, died Tuesday, February 22, 2017 at Cranberry Park of Clio. Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10AM Friday, February 24, 2017 at Saints Charles and Helena Catholic Church in Clio. Rev. Fr. Kenneth Coughlin officiating. Burial in New Calvary Catholic Cemetery. Family will receive visitors at the O’Guinn Family Funeral Home in Clio on Thursday from 11AM until 8PM and at the church on Friday from 9AM until the time of Mass at 10AM. Memorial contributions may be made to the Bright Focus Foundation for dementia research.
David was born October 29, 1943 in Flint, Michigan to the late John and Helen (Davidek) Bodnar. He graduated from Flint Central High School. David Married Lynne Zachary on October 25, 1965. She preceded him in death October 22, 2013. Mr. Bodnar served in the Army National Guard. He enjoyed classic cars and attending car shows. He also enjoyed camping. David was an accomplished painter and was a very talented woodworker, focusing on model ships. Above all, he was very family oriented and loved spending time with his children and grandchildren.
Surviving are: Children: Jennifer (Shayne) Huffman of Clio, David (Rungphet) Bodnar Jr., of Clio, Kristen (Daniel) Chappel of Clio, and Jon (Maggie) Bodnar of Orlando, Florida; 10 grandchildren: Ryan Ostrander, Evan and Abby Yax, Mackenzie, Hannah, Ellery and Olivia Bodnar, Sheridan Chappel, Mia and Trent Bodnar; Brothers: John (Joanne) Bodnar, and Daniel Bodnar; Sister, Bernadine (Al) Less; Sister in law, Nancy O’Hearn; Brothers in law, Michael (Yvonne) Zachary, and Matthew Zachary.
