GEORGE, Williamson “Bill” - Of Flint, age 85, died Friday, February 10, 2017 at the Pines of Burton surrounded by his children.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 am Wednesday, February 15, 2017 at St. Matthew Catholic Church, 706 Beach Street, Flint,

Burial in New Calvary Catholic Cemetery.

Visitation 1-4pm and 6-8pm Tuesday at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Flint. A Memory Sharing Service will be held 7pm Tuesday evening at the funeral home. Visitation at 9:30am Wednesday at church until the time of the Mass.

Memorial donations may be made to the Saint Matthew Church Memorial Fund or ChildFund International, www.childfund.org.

Williamson was born in Flint on September 14, 1931, the son of Bernard and Reo (Williamson) George, who died giving birth. He was raised by his father and his aunts until his father married Katharine E. (Wilkins) George, who became his stepmother. He attended Saint Matthew’s School in Flint, Class of 1949. He attended Flint Junior College for two years then transferred to the University of Michigan earning a B.A. in accounting in 1953. On October 1, 1955, he married Patricia Ann Terriere and she preceded him in death in 1987. Bill worked at Hurley Medical Center for 25 years where he became the Director of Finance. He retired in 1983. Following his retirement, he expanded his private accounting practice, which he kept until 1997. He was a lifelong fan of University of Michigan football and had been a season ticket holder since 1969. Bill was also a longtime member of the Flint Elks Club. He loved music and his sonorous renditions of his favorite songs were a frequent source of entertainment for family and friends.

He is survived by his children, Thomas (Sandy), Mary Flynn (Jerome), Patrick, Katharine Badgley (Nicholas) and Claire George (Steve Cline);

11 grandchildren, Lauren, Maria and Matthew George; Adam and Lucas Flynn; Taylor Munroe (Brett) and Hannah George; Reo and Annie Dieterich; and Lucille and Audrey Cline;

sister-in-law, Rita Kerr and cousin, Paul Custack.

He was preceded in death by two sons, Michael in 1985 and John in 2002.

The family would like to thank the staff at the Pines of Burton for the compassionate care they provided over the past two years.
