ATKIN, Hazel H. – of Mt. Morris, age 88, passed away October 31, 2015 at Select Specialty Hospital. A Funeral Service will be held 1PM Thursday, November 5, 2015 at Allen Funeral Home, 9136 Davison Rd., Davison; Pastor Chad Montague officiating. Burial will be in Flint Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be held 11AM-8PM Wednesday. There will also be one hour of visitation prior to the service on Thursday. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Association.
Hazel was born in Richmond, VA on December 3, 1926, daughter of the late Bradford and Annie (Grady) Yates. She retired from General Motors after 28 years of service. Hazel was active with the Christian Television Network of Jimmy Swaggart Ministries. She also loved her flowers.
Hazel is survived by her daughter, Julia Vangilder; son, Steve (Teresa) Bower; 14 grandchildren, Tony (Tammie) Breecher, Brian (Jennifer) Lavery, Vincent (Jessica) Vangilder, James (Catherine) Bower, John (fiancée, Billie) Vangilder, Kenny (Tricia) Vangilder, Joe Bower, Cindy Lloyd, Sheri Vangilder, Ashley Bower, Jason Sullenger, Tyson Bower, Bryce Bower, Byrun Bower; 20 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; sisters, Edith Aucompaugh, Vickie McCane; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her son, Bradford; brothers, Mike Yates, Ralph Yates; sister, Skee Craig.
