Ilene Leona Hawley age 84 passed away at Hurley Medical Center on April 21, 2014. A memorial service will be held 2 pm, Friday, April 25, 2014 at A to Z Event Center, 4437 Richfield Rd. Flint. The family invites you to come share your memories on Thursday, April 24 from 2pm-8pm and from 11am-2pm Friday at the event center. Ilene was born August 28, 1929, in Flint, MI. She was daughter of Joy and Elmer Raby. After 3 years of dating, Ilene was joined in marriage to Archer Lawrence Hawley and spent 63 years at the same address in Clio. Ilene was proud to be called "Mom" and "Grandma" by not only her own children, but to all who came to know and love her. Her heart always had room for one more 'child' or 'grandchildren'. She ws very active in the Clio Eagles for many years, holding several different positions including Madam President. Ilene's early years were spent as a dance instructor, she later became a bookkeeper for her husband's company. Ilene also worked in the cafeteria at Buick, plant 10. Whenever she wasn't busy with her family or doing volunteer work for the Eagles, she wanted to go dance. Ilene lives on through her seven children: Larry Hawley, David Hawley, Linda (Ken) Lee, Diane Smith, Shirley (Sam) Grawey, Brenda May, and Mark (Chip) Hawley; her 36 grandchildren, 31 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren. She was met in Heaven by her mother Joy Raby, her father Elmer Raby, her husband Archer (A.L.) Hawley, her brother Charles Raby,Sr., her grandson Kenneth E. (Skeets) Smith, III, and her great granddaughter Sharon Joy Lee. |
