BARNES, David L. – Of Fenton, age 71, died Thursday, July 16, 2020 at his residence.
A private service will be held at the Swartz Funeral Home, Reverend Lawrence Burk and Reverend Scott Snyder officiating
Burial in Evergreen Cemetery.
Visitation will take place between 4-8pm Monday, July 20 at the funeral home
Those desiring may make contributions to South Baptist Church of Flint or Carriage Town Ministries.
David was born in Lansing, Michigan on September 2, 1948, the son of Rexford and Jean (Merow) Barnes. On August 18, 1973 he married Linda Crandell. David retired from GM as an Electrician. He was a faithful member of South Baptist Church of Flint. David liked to “know a lot about a lot”. Dining out and enjoying a nice meal was one of David’s favorite activities. He was very proud of his children and enjoyed spoiling his grandchildren. Above all, spending time with his family was most important. He loved vacationing with his family, especially to Disney.
Surviving are wife, Linda Barnes;
son, Brandon (Erin) Barnes;
daughter, Brianne Barnes;
grandchildren, Grayson, Zella and Asher;
mother, Jean Barnes;
brother, James (Brenda) Barnes;
sister, Susan Beckman;
father-in-law, Glenn Crandell;
sister-in-law, Ellen Crandell;
several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his father, Rex Barnes and mother-in-law, Arlayne Crandell.
