ECKER, Edward Seaf, Jr. - Of Flint, age 92, died Friday, December 13, 2019 at Caretel Inns of Linden.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated 11am Tuesday, December 17, 2019 at St. Robert Bellarmine Catholic Church, 310 N. Cherry St, Flushing,
Father Bill Wegher officiating.
Burial in Crestwood Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Parkinson’s Foundation or a charity of one’s choice.
Visitation 12-2pm and 4-8pm Monday at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Flint. A Scripture Service will be held 6pm Monday evening at the funeral home. Visitation 10m Tuesday at church until the time of the Mass.
Edward was born in Flint on March 12, 1927, the son of the late Edward and Mildred (Beebe) Ecker and was a resident of the Flint area all of his life. On July 30, 1949, he married Marjorie Dinius. Edward was a member of Holy Redeemer Catholic Church, 3rd Degree Knights of Columbus Council #10170 and 4th Degree Knights of Columbus Assembly #695. He was a Veteran of the United States Army serving in World War II. Mr. Ecker was employed by Fisher Body I for 40 years, retiring in 1988.
Surviving are daughter, Catherine and husband Jerry O'Dell of Flushing;
Sons, Edward "Denny" of Mt. Morris and Matthew and partner Jonathan of Lebanon, Missouri;
Daughter-in-law, Suzanne;
Grandchildren, Joshua and Kyle (Lacie);
Great-granddaughter, Kyleigh;
Brother, Donald of North Branch; Sister, Shirley Wilbur of Coleman, Michigan;
and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Marjorie, on March 13, 2003; his son, Michael, on August 20, 1989; his parents and his sister, Lois.
