Timothy and Terry Ward/Shelton

Born: 4/1/2020
Died: 3/26/2020
Community: Flint, MI

Timothy Lee Ward, 61 and Terry Ann Shelton, 67 were a rare couple. They met in 1981, both recently divorced swore they’d never remarry but loved each other deeply for 38 years. As in life doing everything together, they also died together the week of March 26, 2020. They were known as TNT and boy were, they! Anyone who knew them knows they loved to argue but would just as quickly make up. Tim and Terry were a staple of the East side of Flint. They were as part of the community as Angelos was. Now both Flint icons are gone but never forgotten. If you needed anything created or mended by sewing or crochet you knew Terry could do the impossible, she was a wonderful seamstress. She supplied unlimited children with hats, gloves and homemade toys. You never left her house without a gadget. If you needed anything fixed, home repairs, cars, anything, Tim was your guy. He loved helping people and repairing broken things. He repaired many bikes and toys for neighborhood children and then played with the toys. He had a knack for getting in trouble right along with the kids. Both were wonderful cooks. Tim was a cook for almost 20 years at many local restaurants. They may not of had much but if you were hungry or there at dinner time you were well fed with great tasting food made from scratch. They were avid animal lovers and rescued almost every type of animal over the years, wild and tame. Their girls, Purdy and Atta will miss their parents but will have peace and comfort the remainder of their lives. Tim, born April 26, 1958 is survived by his daughter Dawn Shelton, father Richard Ward, two grandsons (Michael and Joshua Stafford), three great-grandchildren, sister Susan Gillihan and many beloved nieces and nephews. Prededed in death by his mother, Sharon Ward. Terry, born June 7, 1952 is survived by her daughter, Dawn, two grandsons, three great-grandchildren, brother Lynn Shelton, sister Glee Shelton, aunts, uncles, many cousins, nieces and nephews. Proceeded in death by her parents Joan Hoye-Fisher, Harvey Mert Shelton and stepfather Robert Fisher.
Due to COVID-19 a memorial will be held this summer for family and friends. Announcement will be made at a later date. Donations to cover expenses may be sent to Dodds Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 901 Garland St. Flint, MI 48503.
