Bone, Neal of Flushing, age 90, died Tuesday, February 17, 2015, at his home. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, February 21, 2015, at Cornerstone Baptist Church, 6273 Miller Road, Swartz Creek. Pastor Aaron Whitman will officiate. Burial will be at Flushing Cemetery. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Friday at Rossell Funeral Home. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to the family.
Neal was born in Bald Knob, Arkansas on August 29, 1924, the son of Alph and Ida (Roy) Bone. He married Eva Duke in Augusta, Arkansas on October 17, 1947, and shortly after, moved to Flint. He proudly served in the U.S. Army during World World II, stationed in the South Pacific including Hiroshima and the Philippines. Neal worked at Buick Motor Division as a skilled trades Millwright, retiring in 1981 after 35 years. He was a member of the Clio Masonic Lodge #205 for over 70 years. Neal was an active member of Cornerstone Baptist Church where he served as an usher and a greeter and enjoyed doing repairs around the church. In his spare time, he loved hunting, fishing and gardening.
Neal is survived by his wife of 67 years, Eva; daughters, Anita and husband Phillip Bleck of Flushing, Brenda Lawson-Anthony of Flushing; grandchildren, Melissa, Laura (Eric), Brandon (Kate), Brent (Missy), Lauren (Nick); great-grandchildren, Brooke, Luke, Dalton, London, Roman, Kayleigh, Carter, Brycen, Kennedy, Drake; sisters, DeLois and Jimmy Rhoades, Magdaline Chambers, Nadine Duke, Velrie Loucks and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Eugene and Vernie Bone; granddaughter, Melissa; sons-in-law, Larry Lawson and Robert Anthony.
