DAVIDSON, John C. – Of Grand Blanc, age 52, died Saturday, July 14, 2012 at Hurley Medical Center. The Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 21, 2012 at St. Christopher's Episcopal Church, 9020 South Saginaw Road, Grand Blanc, The Reverend George L. Cleaves, Jr. officiating. Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Thursday and Friday at the Swartz Funeral home, 1225 West Hill Road. A Memorial Service will be conducted by the Flint Lodge #23, F.&A.M. at 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Mr. Davidson will be at the church from 10 a.m. Saturday until the time of the service. John was born in Flint, Michigan on August 6, 1959. He attended Mott Community College and completed his education at Wayne State University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Mortuary Science and a Master’s Degree in Education. During his career as a funeral director he worked with Swartz Funeral Home, Bowles Funeral Home in Fenton and Martin Banks Funeral Home. He taught in Genesee County for 20 years. John worked at Seven Lakes Alternative School for seven years and for the past 13 years he taught in the Flint Public Schools at McKinley, Southwestern, Central and Northwestern. John had numerous hobbies and enjoyed cross country bicycling, travel and operating amateur radios. He was a member of The Salvation Army Radio Relay Team. He was a talented musician and was a past member of the Flint Concert Band, Genesee Wind Symphony and the Tri State Christian Band. John was an active mason. He was Junior Warden of Flint Lodge #23, F.&A.M., A Scottish Rite 32nd Degree Mason in the Bay City Consistory #15, as well as a member of the Genesee Valley Commandry and the Elf Khurafeh Shrine.
John was a lifelong member of St. Christopher’s Episcopal Church and was active in the lay ministry at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church. John was a kind, optimistic person, who enjoyed good fellowship and good company. He was completely dedicated to his faith and family members. John was preceded in death by his father, The Reverend Frederick R. Davidson. He is survived by his mother, Mrs. Constance Davidson; his brothers, William and James Davidson; his sisters, Alice Davidson and Martha Warburton, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Christopher’s Episcopal Church Organ Fund, 9020 S. Saginaw Rd, Grand Blanc, MI 48439.
