June Marie Roddy, 88, of Durand passed away peacefully on Friday, February 8, 2018 at her home surrounded by her family.
June was born on June 18, 1929 in Durand, Michigan to the late James Vincent and Isabella Beatricia (Ward) Summers. On December 28, 1946 June married James Patrick Roddy in Durand, he predeceased her on December 15, 1996. June spent her life as homemaker, raising her children & grandchildren, involved in her community, and very civically active. She was The Durand Area Chamber of Commerce Citizen of the Year in 2012, a member of the Red Hat Society, and held a seat on the City of Durand Board of Review for over 30 years.
Mrs. Roddy is survived by her children; Jim (Joan) Roddy, and Greg (Amy) Roddy, her grandchildren; Eric Roddy, Jamie (Derrick) Ocenasek, Kimberly Roddy, Joshua Roddy, and Jacob (Hallie) Roddy, her great-grandchildren; Irie and Shey Ocenasek, her sister; Betty Jose, and her beloved dog, Izzi.
June was also predeceased by her parents and her siblings, Kitty and Leo Summers.
A memorial gathering to honor and celebrate her life will be held on Thursday, February 15, 2018 from 4pm-8pm with a short service starting at 5pm at the Durand Union Station, 200 Railroad St. Durand, Michigan 48429
Memorial contributions in Mrs. Roddy's name are suggested to the Durand Union Station for the completion of the James P. Roddy Conference Room.
