LANE, William F. - Of Flint, age 71, died Saturday, November 5, 2016
at his residence.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated 11am Wednesday, November 9, 2016 at St. Pius X Catholic Church, G-3139 Hogarth Avenue, Flint,
Father Anthony Strouse officiating.
Burial in Great Lakes National Cemetery at 11:30am Thursday, November 10, 2016.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Flint Catholic Charities.
Visitation 4-8pm Tuesday at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Flint. A Rosary will be prayed 7pm Tuesday evening at the funeral home. Visitation 10am Wednesday at church until the time of the Mass.
William was born in Flint on January 15, 1945, the son of the late Kenneth and Virginia Lane and was a resident of the Flint area most of his life. On June 28, 1969, he married Diane Carpenter. William was a 1st Lieutenant in the United States Army in Korea during the Vietnam era. He was employed with Fisher Body and retired from Flint Metal Fab after 34 years of service. William was a parishioner at St. Pius X Catholic Church, where he served as a Eucharistic Minister and was also a member of the Knights of Columbus, and VFW Post #3720. William helped build homes for Habitat for Humanity and he volunteered at the North End Soup Kitchen. He and his wife Diane were active members in the Marriage Encounter community.
Surviving are wife, Diane;
daughters, Tami (Michael) Smith and Teri (Keith) Cross;
and granddaughters, Emily and Olivia Smith.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Jim, sister, Sue Buck.
