COWDEN, Gary Edward – of Pinconning, MI, formerly of the Clio and Flushing area, age 73 departed this life Friday, April 26, 2024, at McLaren Bay Region. A Celebration of Life will be held Wednesday, May 1st, 2024, from 3PM until 7PM at the O’Guinn Family Funeral Home in Clio. Full military honors will take place at 6PM at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the family for future designation in memory of Gary.
Gary was born on January 29, 1951, in Flint, to the late Edward and Joyce (Tilden) Cowden. Gary proudly served his country in the United States Navy and later pursued a career at General Motors, where he worked diligently until his retirement in 2002. It was during his time at the shop that he met his beloved best friend and soulmate, Bobbie, whom he later married. Together, Gary and Bobbie raised two children, Mandy and Jason, and their home was filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories. Gary was a devoted family man, known for his quiet strength and unwavering support for those he loved, especially his grandchildren. Gary had a passion for the outdoors and spent many joyful hours hunting, fishing, and woodworking. He was an active member of various clubs, including the NRA, UAW, and several hunting and fishing organizations. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and dear friend who will be missed. Always.
Gary will be forever remembered by the Love of his Life, Bobbie Cowden; loving Children: Mandy (Luke) Storms and Jason Peel; cherished Grandchildren: Preslie, Laila, Emily (Shane), and Megan; adored Great-Grandchildren: Piper and Henley; Favorite sister-in-law Sandy; Extended family and wonderful friends. Gary was preceded in death by his Parents Edward and Joyce (Tilden) Cowden; Siblings: Brenda Duvall and Judy Hubbard; Best Friend, Lynn McNew. |
