BYRD, Philip – Of Archbold, Ohio, formerly of Saginaw, age 65, departed this life on Tuesday, March 5,2019 in the comforts of his
Residence.
Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, March 11, 2019 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road. Visitation 10:00 a.m. Monday until the time of service.
Burial in Sunset Hills Cemetery.
Philip was born on March 31, 1953 in Jackson, Michigan to the late J.D and Winifred (Boston) Byrd.
On July 29, 1993 he married the love of his life, Robbie Cobb-Byrd in Las Vegas, NV. They spent 33 years together.
Philip retired from GM with 33 years plus extra 5 years for foundry time.
He worked 15 years with Grey Iron Foundry in Saginaw, Michigan, then was transferred to AC Spark Plug in Flint, Michigan, with 2 years of service, and finally 16 years of service time his last transfer to Powertrain Central Foundry in Defiance, Ohio and retiring June 2006.
He leaves to cherish; his love of his life, Robbie Cobb-Byrd;
granddaughter, Phileshia Martin;
great-grandbaby, Milia of Flint;
mother-in-law, Verna M. Cobb of Flint;
sister, Elva Rosenthal of Lansing;
brother-in-law, Ronald, Raulston, Edward Lee (Deloris) Cobb, Keith Cobb;
sister-in-law, Vicki Cobb Woodyard;
nieces, Tonya Dunn, Chyna Cobb, ShaRhonda Raulston, Vianni (Pooh) Cobb and several more nieces and a host of nephews;
adopted family, Mitchell’s Mama Cora (Red); sisters, Shirley, Barbara (Harold), Rita (Fred); brothers, Lou Cassell (Teammate), Lynn and Winfred. Love then, now and forever;
adopted sons, Rob (Sandy) Olhmer, Jay C Michell Scott; adopted grandson, Jason (car seat 1), Zaria (car seat 2) and Scott;
doggy, Ziggy Byrd.
