YAKLIN, Robert G. “Bob” of Grand Blanc, formerly of Fenton, age 92, died Sunday, November 27, 2016 at his residence. Funeral mass will be celebrated at 11 AM Thursday, December 1, 2016 at St. Michael Catholic Church of Maple Grove, 17994 Lincoln Rd., New Lothrop with Mgsr. Jerry Vincke celebrant. Interment will follow at St. Michael Cemetery. Visitation will be held 2-4 and 6-8 PM Wednesday at Sharp Funeral Homes, Fenton Chapel, 1000 W. Silver Lake Rd., Fenton where a vigil service will be held at 7 PM Wednesday night followed by a Knights of Columbus service. Visitation will also be held 10 AM - 11 AM
Thursday at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Michael Catholic Church of Maple Grove or St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Fenton. Mr. Yaklin was born July 29, 1924 in Maple Grove Township, the son of Anthony and Eleanora (Henige) Yaklin. He graduated from St. Michael High School in 1942. He owned and operated a service station for four years after graduation in New Lothrop. He then moved to Flushing and purchased the Kaiser/Frazier dealership before moving to Flint and worked for Dan Holihan Lincoln / Mercury, Victor George Dodge and Superior Pontiac Cadillac dealerships. He then proceeded into the manufacturing housing industry and community housing industry for the next 50 years along with real estate development properties and building. Mr. Yaklin moved to Fenton in 1971. He was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus Council #7418, Spring Meadows Country Club and Warwick Hills Country Club. Because Mr. Yaklin knew the importance of Education, he established College Scholarship Funds at both St. Michael Church of Maple Grove, New Lothrop and St. John the Evangelist Church in Fenton. Surviving are: brother, Richard Yaklin of Flint; sister, Rosella “Sally” Gross of New Lothrop; sister-in-law, Evelyn Waters; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by: his parents, Anthony and Eleanora (Henige) Yaklin; 2 sisters, Angelita Angst and Geraldine Russel; 5 brothers, Vincent, Sylvan, Donald, Clair, and James Yaklin; two sisters, Ernestine Wendling and Virginia "Jean" Vantine; 5 brothers-in-law, James Vantine, Philinus Angst, Alfred Wendling, Eugene Gross and James Russell; two sisters-in-law, Dorothy Yaklin and Margaret Yaklin.
