THOMPSON, DALE (TOM) - Of Flushing, formerly of Flint, age 77, died Tuesday, December 3, 2019 at Hurley Medical Center.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Tuesday, December 10, 2019 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, G-5199 Richfield Road, Flint,
Father Roy Horning officiating.
Cremation will take place following the Mass.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Leader Dogs for the Blind, Special Needs Vision Clinic in Saginaw or East Flint Lions Club.
Visitation 3-8 p.m. Sunday and Monday at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road.
A Lions Memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Mr. Thompson will be at the church from 10 a.m. Tuesday until the time of the Mass.
Dale was born in Flint, Michigan on August 4, 1942, the son of the late Dale A. and Margaret (Gerics) Thompson.
On June 19, 1965 he married Judy Kline in Mt. Pleasant, Michigan.
First and foremost, Tom was a Lion. He dedicated his time to serving others through the East Flint Lions Club, Lions International and Toys for Tots.
He was a Lion’s District Governor 11-D-1 from 1988-1989.
He served others in a way that made his family proud.
Mr. Thompson retired from GM in 2006, after 40 years of service.
Surviving are wife, Judy;
children, Rick and wife Teresa Thompson,
Tammy and husband Don Valley;
grandchildren, Matt, Melissa, McKenna, Macon and Ella;
one great-granddaughter, Morgan;
brother-in-law, Steve Keswick;
sisters-in-law, Linda Robinson and Susan Morse;
many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Joanne Quine and Myrann Keswick.
