Gordon Wilbur Taylor, age 88, a retired engineer died April 10, 2018. Born in Detroit, MI, on April 14, 1929, Mr. Taylor was raised in London, England. He returned to the United States of America with his late parents, Albert and Isabel (Payton) Taylor, and his late brother, Graham, in 1947. He married Constance Joy Richardson in 1954 and they had five children, Beth, Dave, Paul, Mark and Ken. A graduate of the University of Detroit, his 40-year professional career included electrical, industrial, civil, and manufacturing engineering. Mr. Taylor retired in 1996 to Bitely, MI, area where he and his late wife, Connie, operated the family’s summer home as a Bed and Breakfast establishment until her death in 2004. He married Janet Lee Owens in 2009 and was happily married to her until his death. Known to his friends and family as Gordy, he was a longtime resident of Genesee County; a Boy Scout leader for many years; and active in the following churches: St. Andrews Presbyterian Church, Mundy Presbyterian Church, Walkerville Wesleyan Church and Flint Central Church of the Nazarene where he was a member. A man of faith and great interest in others, he enjoyed talking to people, reading history, photography, chess, carpentry, working with his children and spending time at the cottage with his family and friends. Those who knew him will remember Gordy’s charming Cheerio. He is survived by Janet; 5 children; 3 step-children; 16 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; extended family and dear friends. He is preceded in death by his wife, Connie, and his granddaughter, Kaitlyn Elizabeth Taylor. Memorial service will be held Monday, April 16, at Central Church of the Nazarene Chenoweth Center; gathering/visitation at 3pm, service at 4pm; dinner to follow. Special thanks to the staff at Victoria's House for taking such good care of our father.
