SOVA, Yvonne Elsie - Of Flint, age 80, died Monday, March 27, 2017
at her residence.
Our world is darker and quieter tonight but there is a brighter star in the sky and laughter in the heavens. The soul of Yvonne Sova left this earth today, her mission completed.
Raymond and Jessie Reed welcomed their baby daughter Feb. 3rd 1937, born at their home in Flint, MI, where she joined her sister Joan and brother Richard. She attended St. Paul Lutheran school, Whittier Jr. High and graduated from Flint Tech High school.
Paul Francis Sova won her heart and they married when he returned from Korea and began raising a family. They moved into a big farmhouse on 5 acres in Rankin, MI which was to be home for 47 years. Life revolved around family, home and school. She loved cooking and canning fruit and vegetables from their huge garden. She also enjoyed sewing, making clothes and Halloween costumes for the children. Raising miniature dachshunds was a family project for many years.
After the children were grown she worked in diamond sales at fine jewelry stores. For 10 years, she served as Area Representative for the Chamber of Commerce of the U. S. and later as a caregiver for Comfort Keepers. She was a writer for local magazines. Reading and learning were her lifelong passions.
Yvonne participated fully in every organization she joined, from Secretary of PTA and Girl Scout Leader to Board of Directors at the Life Enrichment Center, President of the Women On Wheels chapter she formed, and served in every office of her Toastmasters club where she also conducted Speechcraft and Youth Leadership classes. She helped others find peace in their lives by teaching Deepak Chopra's meditation program and also served on staff at his lectures. She was proud to own a Harley Davidson motorcycle after years of riding with her husband and traveled to many states with friends and family.
Yvonne's creed was Love, Peace and Respect for the world and everyone in it. She viewed life as an "Absolutely Marvelous" experience, sharing laughter and making friends wherever she went.
She left precious memories for her family - son: Blake (Lolita) Sova, CA, daughters: Diane Sova, Brazil; Karen Huff, VA; Brenda (Mike) Short, IN; Sheri Sova, FL; Joan (Michael) Schramm, MD. She leaves her grandchildren: Eric Sova, Andrea Boone, Jessica Adams, David Miaso, Jake Huff, Lauren Sova, Amy Huff, and Andrew Sova, and Great-grandsons Grant Bewsey, Trevor Boone and Blaine Rogers; great-granddaughter Eleonore Sova; sister Joan Fox and brother Richard Reed. She also dearly loved her many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Her husband Paul passed on in 1996. Now the Dove has gone to meet the Eagle.
