MYERS, Spencer - Of Grand Blanc, age 84, died Sunday, August 4, 2013 at Gentiva Hospice.
Funeral service will be held 11am Wednesday, August 7, 2013 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Flint.
Burial in Flint Memorial Park.
Visitation 12-8pm Tuesday at the funeral home.
Spencer was born in Yadkin County, North Carolina on April 7, 1929. Spencer moved from Lexington, NC to Flint, MI in 1956. Spencer retired from General Motors V-8 Engine Plant after 41 years and was a member of UAW Local #659. He was an avid walker, walking the Bobby Crim Race for 20 consecutive years and was a member of the Glow Walker Club and many other walking clubs. He loved NASCAR, race walking, traveling, the beach, taking pictures, putting up Christmas lights and most of all just spending time with family and friends.
Surviving are sons, Steven Myers and Tony Myers of Grand Blanc and Ron and wife Sharon Myers of Birmingham, MI;
daughter, Vickie Kinney of North Carolina;
grandchildren, Tabatha Clark, Shelby Myers and Jade Spencer Myers;
sister, Ovaline Saine and husband Lester of North Carolina;
numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends.
Spencer was preceded in death by the mother of his sons, Peggie Ann Myers.
