Howell, Carol M. of Flushing, age 73, died Saturday, December 15, 2012 at Avalon Hospice. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Rossell Funeral Home. Cremation will follow the services. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to the Genesee County Humane Society.
Carol was born in Flint, Michigan on October 10, 1939, the daughter of Charles and Jennie (Busch) Vickery. She married Darwin Howell on December 14, 1957 in Flint. Carol graduated from Genesee Community College (Mott) in 1971. She worked as a Registered Nurse at McLaren Regional Medical Center, retiring in 1999. Carol loved her cats unconditionally and kept a special place in her heart for the inmates at the humane society. Her love of garage sales caused many drivers to slam on their brakes. Carol enjoyed gardening and took great pride in her roses. She loved spending her spare change at the casino. Anyone who knew Carol may have been blessed with a gift of one of her crochet creations.
Carol is survived by her husband of 55 years, Darwin; daughters, Kim Howell, Pam and husband Dave Alvarado, Lisa and husband Tim Stillwell; grandchildren, Amanda, Michael, Alesha, Jacob, Jenelle, Krystal, McKenzie, Gage, Ashley; great-grandchildren, Kyla, Malia, Alannah, Madison, Marisa and special friends, Theresa and Al Jarema. She was preceded in death by her parents and brothers, Charles “Doddy” and Johnny Vickery.
