HURD, Arlene Elizabeth - Age 76, of Byron, died Friday, February 15, 2019. Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Wednesday, February 20, 2019 at Durand Church of the Nazarene, 9725 E. Monroe Road, Durand. Pastor Michael McCarty officiating. Burial in Byron Cemetery, Byron. Visitation will be held at Sharp Funeral Homes, Linden Chapel, 209 E. Broad St., Linden, Tuesday from 3-8 PM and at church Wednesday from 10 AM until the time of the service. Those desiring may make contributions to the Durand Church of the Nazarene.
Arlene was born August 5, 1942 in Detroit, the daughter of William A. and Dorothy S. (McMichael) Gage. She married Edgar Allen Hurd July 18, 1970 and he preceded her in death April 9, 2018. She retired from McDonald's in Fenton and had worked for Avon and Montgomery Wards. Arlene had resided in Byron since 1972 coming from Livonia. She was a member of the Durand Church of the Nazarene, where she was the organist and pianist. She enjoyed arts and crafts and going to craft shows. She also enjoyed bowling, softball, volleyball, and vacationing in Mackinaw City.
Surviving are: her daughters, Fay (Bill) Johnston and Heather (Greg) Lantz; grandchildren, Koen and Ashtyn; cousin, David Gage; and her cat, Rusty.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; and brothers, Gary and Richard Gage. Tributes may be posted at www.sharpfuneralhomes.com. |
