SYLVESTER, Henry Joseph, Jr. – of Henry County, KY and Genesee County, MI, age 89, passed away Wednesday, July 10, 2024. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 1 PM Thursday, July 18, 2024 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 404 North Dayton Street, Davison, MI 48423; Rev. Fr. Denis Spitzley celebrant. Interment immediately following the Mass at St. John Catholic Cemetery. The family will receive visitors 4-6 PM Wednesday, July 17, 2024 at Allen Funeral Home, 9136 Davison Road, Davison, MI 48423 and 12-1 PM Thursday, July 18, 2024 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. Sharing of Memories will be held 5 PM Wednesday, July 17, 2024 at Allen Funeral Home.
Henry was born in Flint, MI on December 9, 1934, son of the late Henry and Theresa (Spegel) Sylvester, Sr. He began his career at General Motors, where he dedicated many years of diligent service before retiring. During his summers, Henry found solace and joy in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula, a place that held cherished memories from his childhood. A talented woodworker, Henry's craftsmanship was admired by all who enjoyed his creations. He took great joy in nurturing plants and passing on his gardening knowledge to his family. Above all else, Henry was a devoted husband and family man. His love and support were unwavering, and he leaves behind a legacy of kindness, generosity and wisdom.
Henry is survived by his wife, Delores Sylvester; 5 children, Dawn, Mardelle, Bradley, Jeffery and Barbara; 3 step-children, Monica, George and Matthew; 7 grandchildren, Matthew, Michael, Michelle, David, Sara, Brent and Elizabeth; 18 great-grandchildren, Shaylynn, Cheyenne, Eric, Cynthia, Nicholas, Sabrina, Kyle, Katy, Courtney, Jeanice, Colton, Bailie, Ashton, Bailey, Sydney, Arrow, Glen "Logan" and Emery; 12 great-great-grandchildren, Hailee, Hanna, Scott, Georgia, Ethan, Oliver, Sébastien, Loki, Alex’Zander, Charlee, Jason and Lucas; many other loving family members and good friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry Joseph Sylvester, Sr. and Theresa Sylvester; daughter, Elaine Bolduc; grandson, Jason Bolduc; great-granddaughter, Brihanna Sylvester; step-daughter, Rina Vankleef; 2 sisters, Ruth DuCap and Catherine Boris.
