Phyllis Arlene Lavery
Age 84 of Montrose passed away on March 26, 2017 at Medilodge of Montrose.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00pm on Friday, March 31, 2017 at North Flushing Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Montrose Township Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Nelson-House Funeral Homes New Lothrop Chapel on Thursday, March 30 from 10:00am to 8:00pm and also at the church on Friday from 12:00pm until the time of service.
Phyllis was born on October 28, 1932 to Robert J. and Emily (Klotz) McKone in Flint. She married Joseph A. Lavery on April 29, 1950; they celebrated 63 years of marriage before he predeceased her in 2014. Phyllis worked as a seamstress for Mitchell Bentley for many years. Afterwards, she worked at the Montrose Township Office and later worked as a school bus driver for Montrose Schools.
During her life, Phyllis loved volunteering just about everywhere. She enjoyed crocheting and doing puzzles, and she loved camping with her family. She was also a member of the Lions Club.
Phyllis is survived by her children, Carol (Lynn) Cole, JoAnn (Robert) Niblett, Asil Lavery, and Kellie (Everett) Nicholas; her 12 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, and 14 great-great grandchildren; as well as many nieces and nephews.
She is predeceased by her husband, Joseph, her parents, and 2 brothers.
Memorial contributions are suggested to North Flushing Baptist Church.
