TYLER, Mr. Charles "Fat Cat" - age 56, of Flint, passed away Thursday, November 10, 2016 at Hurley Medical Center. Funeral services will be held 1:00 pm Friday, November 18, 2016 with a 12:30 pm family hour at Sheldon T. Banks Funeral Chapel, 3021 S. Dort Hwy., Flint, MI 48507. Rev. Joe Arthur Washington officiating. The final resting place for Mr. Tyler will be Lovedale Cemetery, Burton, MI. Calling hours are 12:00 noon - 6:00 pm Thursday, November 17, 2016 at Sheldon T. Banks Funeral Chapel.
Mr. Charles Edward Tyler was born December 6, 1959 in Floria, Mississippi the son of J.W. and Maggie D. Tyler. Charles was a lifelong resident of Flint, MI. He was a member of True Temple Community Church and later attended Ebenezer Ministries. He attended Flint Community Schools and was employed at Delta Tube for many years. Charles loved playing cards, dominoes and making others laugh.
He leaves to cherish his memory: wife, Rhonda Ervin-Tyler of Florida; stepson, Benney Ervin of Detroit, MI; sisters, Carolyn J. (Marcus) Tyler-Shelton of Flint, MI and Maggie Annette (James Faron) Collins of Chesapeake, VA; Godsister, Carolyn T. Randolph-Robinson of Flint, MI; nephews, Michael J. Jones Jr., Stephen D. Shelton, Xavier Tyler, Dylan Michael Long, Daricus Randolph and Donnie Randolph; nieces, Jennifer C. Tyler-Jones, Cyntesa M. Tyler, Brianna D. Tyler, Passion L. Tyler, Earica Randolph; great nephew, Carson Leroy Tyler; great niece, Imagine Tyler; uncles, Rev. Willie Thompson, Moses (Linda) Thompson, J.C. (Shirley) Simmons and Sonny Griffin; aunts, Anne Mae (Henry) Lawson, Louise (C.L.) Lowe, Lucille (Joe) Cooper, Carrie Bell (Willie B) Smith and Corean Bouldin; a host of other relatives and friends, including special cousin who was more like a sister, Brenda Jones; special friends, Michael (Sheveze) Anderson, Bobby Simpson and very special friend for many years, Brenda Blake-Tucker.
Mr. Charles Edward Tyler was preceded in death by his father, J.W. Tyler; mother, Maggie Dell Tyler; and brother, Leroy Tyler.
The family would like to express special thanks to all the men at the Grand Traverse House of Flint, MI and everyone who has showed concern and kindness during this difficult time and a heartfelt thanks to Ruby Vance who has been there every step of the way.
