GUTGESELL, Arthur Alexander – of Davison, age 94, passed away Monday, August 19, 2013 at Devonshire Retirement Village. A Funeral Service will be held 11 AM Thursday, August 22, 2013 at Trinity Lutheran Church, 706 W. Flint St., Davison; Pastor Todd Frusti officiating. Burial, with Military Honors under the auspices of Davison American Legion Post #267, will be in Davison Cemetery. Visitation will be 2-8 PM Wednesday at Allen Funeral Home, 9136 Davison Rd., Davison. On Thursday, visitation will be at the church from 10 AM until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church.
Arthur was born in Flint, MI on October 29, 1918, son of the late George H. and Bertha (Rauh) Gutgesell. He married Edith Musgrave in 1942 and she preceded him in death in 1970. Art served in the U.S. Army from 1941-1944. He worked at AC Spark Plug as an Electrical Engineer, retiring in 1980. Art then worked ten years as a volunteer clerk at Probate Court. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church of Davison.
Arthur is survived by his children, George (Diane) Gutgesell of Davison, Linda (George) Herrington of Carmel, IN; son-in-law, Don Wheeler; grandchildren, Craig Wheeler, Chris (Becky) Shorey, Amy (Malachi) Gallegos, Allison Wheeler, Anson (Sonia) Herrington, Nancy (John) Bykowski; great-grandchildren, Baily, Cullen, Mackenzie and Addison Shorey, Madeline Bykowski, Lillian and Lucinda Herrington, Brody and Ava Jean Gallegos. He was preceded in death by his daughters, Jean Wheeler, Betty and Mary; son, Don; sisters, Lydia Grainger, Marge Dunlap; brother, Walter; step-mother, Selma (Conzelmann) Gutgesell. The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff of Devonshire Retirement Village and Hometown Home Health & Hospice Team for the care and compassion they gave to Dad. A special thank you to Susan Wiley for her loving care she gave our Father.
