ATWELL, Aldowayne G. – of Montrose, age 76, died Sunday, May 6, 2012 at his residence. Funeral services will be held at 11 AM Wednesday, May 9, 2012 at the Montrose Baptist Church, 300 E. State St. in Montrose. Pastor Dan Pugh officiating. Burial in Montrose Township Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday from 2-8PM and at the church on Wednesday from 9AM until time of services at 11 AM. Contributions may be made to the family.
Al was born June 1, 1935 in New Lothrop to the late George and Marguerite (Amidon) Atwell. He was raised by George and Geraldine Smith after his mother’s death. He was a resident of Montrose most of his life. Al was a heavy equipment operator for construction companies. He was a charter member of the Hale Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie #4217. He enjoyed fishing and socializing with his friends.
Surviving are: children, Wayne Atwell (companion Tammi) of Burt, Lonnie (Kerrie) Atwell of Montrose, Peggy (Scott) Schlicht of Montrose, Ronda (Mitch) Bowen of Sanford, Terry (Jane) Atwell of Durand, David (Theresa) Atwell of Montrose, Tammy (Dave) Dowd of Montrose, Dewey Atwell of Burt, Julie (Mike) LaBarge of FL, George (Kendra) Atwell of New Lothrop, Jennifer Atwell (companion Brian) of Montrose; many grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren; siblings, Barbara (Lon) Cross of Montrose, Thomas Atwell of Montrose, Joann (Bob) Klco of Owosso, Janice (Mike) Chaltraw of Chesaning, Karen (Gary) Rice of Montrose, Debbie (Bob) Cartier of Montrose; many nieces and nephews, former wives, Mary Schmidt of Burt and Lila Atwell of Burt. He was also preceded in death by: a brother, Virgil Atwell; and 2 grandsons, Alonzo Atwell and Anthony Atwell.
