HOLLENBECK, Carol A. – of Vassar, age 70, passed away July 16, 2012 at Brian's House Hospice, after a long, courageous battle with cancer. A Funeral Service will be held 11:00 AM Friday, July 20, 2012 at Allen Funeral Home, 9136 Davison Rd., Davison; Elder William Crampton Jr. officiating. Burial will be in Meadowview Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be 11 AM – 8 PM Wednesday and 10 AM – 8 PM Thursday. Memorial contributions may be made to Brian's House Hospice.
Carol was born in Flint, MI on July 5, 1942, daughter of Robert and Lucille (Crampton) Sanborn. She married Kent Hollenbeck on March 23, 1992. Carol was a lifetime member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary Post # 4087, and a member of Community of Christ Church. She loved working in the outdoors, enjoyed planting flowers, driving the tractor and watching birds. Carol liked dining out, going to the casinos and watching her grandchildren’s sporting events, never missing a game. She especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, who affectionately called her “Granny”.
Carol is survived by her husband, Kent; mother, Lucille; daughters, Tonya (Paul) McIntyre, Arla Aymer (Dan Freeman), Darcy (Patrick) Myatt, Brenda (Eric) McLaughlin, Nikki (Duane) Walker; 16 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; brother, Robert (Carol Jane) Sanborn; sisters, Allison (Mike) Borha, Patricia Frasher; special aunt, Katie (Bob) Kenyon; many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father, Robert; sister, Sandra Taljonik.
