PERKINS, James A. – of Montrose, age 62, died Friday, July 6, 2012 at his residence with his loving wife of 43 years by his side. Funeral services will be held at 1 PM Tuesday, July 10, 2012 at the O'Guinn Family Funeral Home in Montrose. Pastor Jimmie Whitaker officiating. Burial will be in Montrose Township Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday from 2-9PM, Monday from 11-9PM and Tuesday from 11AM until time of services at 1PM. Contributions may be made to the family.
Jim was born January 2, 1950 in Flint to the late Charles and Lucile (Falerios) Perkins. He lived in Montrose all of his life. He married Marilou Kolman on March 29, 1969. Mr. Perkins had been employed at one time by Powell's Sand and Gravel for 10 years and retired from Allied Auto Transit in 2002. He enjoyed bowling, fishing, hunting, camping, gardening, Detroit Tigers, NASCAR, music and playing the piano. Above all, Perk enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.
Surviving are: wife, Marilou; 3 children, James R. (Cindy) Perkins, Joshua (Melissa) Perkins, Julia (Matt) Perkins; 4 grandchildren, Jennifer, James D., Max and Lance all of Montrose; brothers and sisters, Bob (Carole) Perkins of Manistee, Sharon Perkins of Montrose, Mathew (Jamie) Perkins of Swartz Creek, Kathy (Jim) Filer of Flushing, Carol Utsey, Don (Tammy) Perkins, John (Pam) Perkins, all of Montrose; many loved aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and special friends.
